I'll soon be moving to Xiamen to teach at a university from September. As the salary is typically modest, I'll need to supplement my income with p/t English tutoring. What can I ask per hour (upper-end) as a freelancer IN THIS CITY: IELTS Prep, company classes, GE; one-on-one, group? Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
John |

50 rmb per hour per student with 5 students per hour. Make the students round up the group. At this price they will do whatever it takes to put the group together and assure you the 250.oo per hour. 5 is a very workable group. It works for me. |

Be careful if you do that while living in an on-campus apartment - especially if you part time students are also your uni students. I'm not saying it will be a problem - I'm just saying that in some unis you ought to be discreet (technically I'm contractually bound to not work anywhere else - a common contract clause I'm told.) |
