|
|
The contract is different from the statement made by the director (in her E-mail) regarding monthly rate and working hrs. How should I approach the situation? Should I point it out and also other things in the contract, just in case? For instance, it says they will provide a co-worker...should I enquire to make sure that they will? Etc... |

It would be a big mistake not to ask about these discrepancies before signing. What she says in an e-mail amounts to nothing if it is different from the contract and you go ahead and sign the contract anyway. They should change the contract to reflect the actual amount of working hours, if they refuse to do this, chances are what she said in the e-mail was meaningless, and printing out a copy of the e-mail would do nothing for you. Get the contract changed.
"I noticed that the contract you sent me states 16 hours a week, whereas you previously stated in your e-mail that I would only be required to work 14 hours a week. I appreciate clarification as to how many hours I am actually expected to work per week, and if what you stated in the e-mail is correct, I would like the contract to be changed to reflect this."
Or something like that. You should ask about anything you might have a question about regarding the contract. Leave nothing unsaid. It is better to find out now then after the contract has been signed and there is nothing you can do about it. Don't worry about how it might look to them, if they don't like your questions, you can always find another job. You don't want to work for a school that is going to be evasive (or turned off by a teacher who asks questions for that matter) about the most basic of issues anyhow. |

Thanks for the tips. I know it's common sense issues; I just wanted to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. Cheers,

Hey Gorm, no problem. It is good that you're being so thorough. No such thing as a stupid question and all that. |
