Looking for information on teaching conditions for Instructors of English at QINGDAO UNIVERSITY. Anyone with first-hand experience - or know of anyone who has taught there? Would appreciate immensely any advice or informative links regarding the atmosphere / reputation of this institution.
Many, many thanks - |

they have two campuses one in the boonies . My friends work there . The school in the boonies is beside the school I worked at last year . If you work there your only contact 24 hours a day will be with your students and schoo staff. |

Are they going to pay/ reimburse your airfare? Because I see a job from Qingdao today that says no airfare is supplied |

Yes, but the ad songbird is referring to offers 4,000 or 4,500 per month for 18-20 hours a week...sorry no airfare. It is also advertised as "a new campus attached to Qingdao University", so if this is the job the OP is eyeing, there's definitely more to consider than simply "teaching conditions at Qingdao University". |

I've seen the same ad addressed above. Clearly it's one of many operations where an external organization is leasing space from a Chinese university.
Those doing this use this to their advantage. They try to use the name of the better known university to curry favor with students who can go to that place and "attend" there.
These operations are normally private concerns as far as the Chinese are concerned. This translates into the students paying higher tuition and the students being ones who were unable to do well enough on university entrance exams to be accepted.
There is a lot of variation; some of the students arenb't good test takers. Some of the students are monied, lazy, and spoiled. MOST of the students are looking for shortcuts to make themselves competitive in the oversupply of labor Chinese market.
Every day new schems, meant pejoratively, are devised for students to get some sort of diploma on the ground in China to simulate equality with study abroad. These aren't plans. They are devious, dubious, and ripoffs.
The students are all ALWAYS disillusioned, become poorly behaved, disenchanted, and feel let down, but continue attending.
This one smacks of being a big cash cow for the investor. STrike three was no airfare. It went no further in my thoguhts. |
