I know the PSU is quite the topic of conversation here but usually it is the dysfunctional women's college that is discussed. I have been talking to PSU a bit and am considering joining the men's side. I have talked with a couple of the men and I never hear horror stories from them. Why is that? Is it:
1. The men just being polite/diplomatic
2. The men's English department is not dysfunctional at all
3. The men are afraid to say anything bad for fear of retribution
4. The women are simply more honest than the men who are in denial
5. Everything is great everywhere anyone who says otherwise is a liar
I would love it if somebody could give me an honest assessment of the men's section. |

I may have an offer from PSU Men's College. I am also curious about how that side of the university is. The Rector's secretary called me up and virtually offered me a contract simply based on a previous phone call I had made to the ELT director. Are they just desperate for people? Or am I just lucky? What should I expect there? Is it really okay or is it really a nightmare?
Thanks in advance for feedback! |

Yes, they are desperate. And their rapid offer to you is probably a very good indication of why there is a problem. You may very well be a fantastic teacher, but many wonderful appearing CVs have fronted some real misfits.
I think this is pretty well covered in the other thread. Read it and make your decision based on your situation. There ARE worse places.

The other thread only contains information about the Women's College. The little that is said about the Men's College is neutral to positive. I would simply like more details about the environment at the Men's College from someone who is there now, or has finished up there recently.
Is that too much to ask? |

No, but I don't recall that we have had any male posters from PSU come here and comment over the years - or they didn't identify themselves. That 'probably' means that things are more settled over there. This is a site where we hear details from people when things are bad, but not when things are fine.
It would be nice if you had some contacts in Riyadh who could check it out for you. Your post on the other thread suggested that you are or were there. Or perhaps someone will show up and post...
BTW.. like your screen name...
