|
|
I thought I'd seen a previous post here that discussed scheduling interviews with the eikaiwas in Toronto (ECC and NOVA), but was unable to find it through the ESLcafe search. So, I'll bite and ask . Does anyone knew whether or not it's tenable to schedule both interviews for the same weekend? I'm local to D.C., so airport/train transport's fairly easy to arrange - it's just time and expense that get hard to manage...
Also, just in case, anyone have any hotel/must-try-restaurant/cool-things-to-see suggestions for Toronto? Might as well take advantage of the time in a new city and de-stress somewhere tasty!
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide, even if it's just linking me somewhere! And apologies if I've just somehow managed to miss a slew of posts due to bad search stringing |

I'm thinking of doing the same thing since ECC only hires from Toronto now, and I live way down in Florida. |

I don't know what ECC interviews are like. But I do know Nova's lasts one day, and one day only. So if ECC is one day, should be okay.
There's the CN tower... it's neat. Uh... other than that... can't help much. I'm a Montreal snob Oh wait. Try some of the hotdogs on the street. My god they're good. Least the ones in front of Union Station are. Spicy as a mofo and huge and thick and YUMtastic. And cheap, $2 CDN! |

I went up to Toronto last month and had ECC and GEOS interviews all in a row. It's doable. ECC is only one day 9-5 and is fairly unstressful. Good luck! |

So, I'm assuming you get to pick your interview dates at these big eikaiwas, right? |

How it usually works is that once the company wants to schedule an interview with you they will write you via email of available dates for the interview sessions and then you pick one. ECC had the most options, in Toronto it was on Thursdays and Fridays, so a few times a week. You can choose the appropriate one to match the same week as the GEOS weekend, AEON, or NOVA, but I recommend you rsvp to ECC FAST because the dates tend to fill up quick. |

I only interviewed with ECC, but there were others at my interview who were in Toronto interviewing with Geos and so on. ECC did give me a couple of choices for interview dates, but they do fill up quickly as someone else pointed out. I'm not sure if they are smaller than others or just that ECC is the pick of the litter. Perhaps a bit of both.... |

NOVA is letting me schedule. I'm still waiting to hear from ECC, because I (unfortunately) sent in my application while their application-review peoples are in Japan for meetings. Supposedly, normal operations will resume in June 22nd? But yeah, for NOVA, when I called them, they said they keep your application on file for six months, so that gives me a little time to figure out exactly how I'm finagling travel time/days off from my current job. |
