Hi, I qualified TEFL with 4 weeks practicum nearly 2 years ago, I also have a business degree.
I have decided the time has come to do some teaching and living abroad and I am thinking of Phuket or ANOther Thailand island.
Any suggestions on locations/probs for a single english girl working in Thailand/other ideas on locations etc
thanks

Realistically, everyone would like to work on a tropical paradise, but the vast majority end up in Bangkok for a reason. Jobs in more coveted locations tend to involve slave wages, stiff competition and probably dodgy employment practices. |

Phuket and perhaps Koh Samui are the only places where you could realistically find a teaching job. Also please remember that holidaying in tropical paradise is very different from living and working in tropical paradise.
You might also like to consider other locations in Thailand where there are better job opportunities and use your weekends and holidays to relax on the islands and beaches. |

School started a couple weeks ago - so you are a bit behind the power curve - but there are still lots of decent part-time jobs about here.
Keep an eye on http://phuketgazette.net in the classifieds section.
Frankly, I love the island - island life - and the more relaxed lifestyle. I work a good part of the time in Bangkok right now (I keep a home on Phuket and an apt. in BKK) - but Phuket is HOME. |
