Hi there...I have a question. Has anyone here taught in Taitung or Hualien? I am interested in hearing what it is like to live in either of these two places. What is there to do? How's eating? Cost of living? Are the locals friendly to us foreign folk?

Thanks in Advance!!!!!

hualien is fine. everywhere is as fine as we let it be. the only real draw back to hualien (other than the normal games the bosses play) that i saw was that it was a bosses market. there were always new faces showing up and knocking on doors. yeah, they were looking for jobs. such is fine, but the bosses always knew another, cheaper face was as far close as tomorrow. it is a small town and all the bosses know each other. rates were lower for work but cost of living wasn't much cheaper than up north(the economy is tourism based). some of the foreign teachers i met there were among the best people i have met yet. the locals were kind in a hawaiian way- they were nice to you, but they also knew you were a short-timer.

Previous to this format, there was a forum here that looked completely different. Perhaps it used different software? Anyway, I seem to remember I posted here previous to 2003.

I also posted on the previous forum under a different name (yes, the one I have now is real). I seem to remember not being able to log in after it changed.

Cool! It's good to know that I'm the first at something.

Hey, I like this idea of recycling threads. Find a post from 2 or 3 years ago, and respond to it.....
