I tell you what, this last week has been a blur of limited sleep (and even then, I dream football), beer, excitement, concern, oh and some work. I have no fingernails left.
Yes, I wish I was in the UK for this. The Tavern, Saints & Sinners, Brass Monkey and Carnegies (who have a massive screen ) are giving us a great time (haven't tried anywhere else - any other recomendations?) but my savings are being seriously depeleted - with no sign of slowing down. Even my girlfriend is getting into it and that is doubling my bar bill
Might have to try a few more games from my sofa - but you've got to HATE those commentators yabbering on about who knows what, and the adverts that take up 3/4 of the screen.
Who would have thought USA holding themselves against Italy? I mean I know they are a respected and upcoming team, but against Italy Good on em - but no, I don't want them to win because it isn't in the spirit of the game; we've been trying to crack this nut again since 66, so USA is not welcome to stroll in and walk off with the cup.
So come on, which teams do all you regulars out there support?
Here's to all you football fans in the meantime: Have a great one. |
