Dear Gentlemen ad Ladies of the Forum,
I recently ran across a job posting by International Education Services.
This company is apparently a major provider of multi-level management and functional industry-specific communications programs taught completely in English to employees of Japanese corporations and government agencies in Japan.
The job opening was teach their Advanced Business Skills and Business English programs in the greater Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya areas and they were specifically looking for individuals with experience in one of the following fields: pharmaceuticals, engineering, finance, banking, IT, advertising/PR, or linguistics.
I searched the Daves ESL forum and the Internet and failed to come up with any information on the company. I was wondering if any one in currently or formally in Japan has heard anything about the company.
Are they similar to the large English school chains in pay and benefits (or lack of such) and how is their reputation in the general ESL community? Any other important information any one can offer about the company?
Thanks |

Probably not much help, but i worked for them briefly in the mid-90's teaching at Omron. Its not really a 'dispatch' but you are sent to teach at companies on company premises.
Pay was reasonable (4,000 yen an hour for a company class) and they paid on time. Did a 12-week stint with them. I think maybe head office is in Hommachi or somewhere. Did everything by fax and phone and they pay salary into your bank account. |

My experience with them is totally negative. Not only do I have plenty of English teaching experience and time in Japan, I have tons of industrial experience in precisely one field that they want, yet despite three ads that I responded to, not once did I ever get a response. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
IES is a sham outfit in my opinion. Have you done your search using "IES" or their full name? |
