Hey all! New to the forum, but I got a job and will be moving to Hong Kong in less than a month (Scary, but wonderful!) And I have a few accomidation questions.

I'm going to be needing temp accomidations until I find a flat of my own, basically, and the company I'm working for has worked out a deal for us at the Hong Kong YMCA for over 10,000 HK for the first month per room (2 beds to a room) so roughly 5,000 HK for my bed in one room. Is that a decent deal, should I look for something better?

Two of the other teachers have worked out a cheap deal with this place:

New Garden Hostel, Hongkong
F1, E1, 13f Mirador Mansion, 58 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha
Tsui
Kowloon, Hong Kong
34256
Tel: 00852-94989930

But I know nothing about it, so curious if anyone has been there or knows where I might look up information about Hostels? Anyway, this is just my first question. There will be many more to come, no doubt. Time is ticking.

Thanks for your time and attention!

Seems like bellabella has already accomidated you... Rolling Eyes

Seriously, apart from the spelling, you have plenty of options. Certainly, the 'garden' in Mirador Mansions is purely by name association. Mirador Mansions is not that attractive and is also a pretty noisy place. Likewise for any of the other places directly on Nathan Road. You could either go for a serviced suite in a hotel. Rates start from 7,000 HK per month - easy to get a room when you arrive at the airport. These are pretty comfortable places. Cheaper, for example is http://www.rentaroomhk.com/. They have some tiny rooms off Jordan Road/Nathan road junction in a quiet backstreet. Apparently recently renovated.

I once needed to find the same info. I recall that a bit of searching on the web brought up a whole host of options.
