How much money should I bring to survive until I have full-time work?

how do you want to live?
like a king or in a shack
What do you eat?
steak or casado's
How much do you drink? what do you drink? Wine or beer or grappa
How do you travel?
first class or by foot?

How can anyone possibly tell you how much you will need? There are many previous posts that give you the details on what things cost and you can also do a search using the search tool that will narrow down the postings you have to read. But i suggest you do some reading of all the posts. lots of good information has already been printed.

That's a non-answer-answer to a reasonable question. Upon arriving in Costa Rica, it will take some time to find work. Asking how much money is necessary to live is a completely reasonable question deserving more than a brush off. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would be interested in a reasonable range of money to bring. Although your reply is an attempt to sound thoughtful, it is actually a simple way to avoid an answer. Anyone care to be more helpful?

sorry if you think its a non answer, I have been here for two years and i have tried to help as many people as I can. What is really frustrating is that all your questions been asked and answered not once but quite a few times over. There are not alot of people who are taking the time to post on this site and my time is valuable. If you do your homework you would have your answers. Take the time to read the past postings and do a search when you can't find the answers, then post the questions.

If you are a teacher you should understand. If you give the students a handbook with all the relevant information, but they don't take the time to read it, instead just continually ask you for the information.....what would you do?

Your question may be reasonable, only if we know your details and plans. otherwise its way to open and broad a question.

So to give you a general answer, have at least 1,500.00 low end to set you up for a month and then support you till you recieve your first pay.

Your last sentence was helpful, thank you. I actually did a search before posting. Now perhaps I was using the wrong key words, but I couldn't find the info I needed. If you'd like to suggest some key words, that would be helpful, too. I also understand the frustrations of answering the same questions again and again. I belong to other forums and the same is true for moderators in all of them. I suppose that is part of the job of being a moderator. If the frustrations become too great, a holiday may be in order. In any case, thanks again for the rough dollar quote. It's useful. -Andrew
