Hello all. I'm looking for a little help estimating what sort of job and salary I might expect were I to come to Turkey. I have a BS and one year EFL experience (in Korea). I know it's not much, just wondering. I'd prefer to teach adults. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Language school, almost certainly no kids, hourly pay of 10 dollars an hour, possible work permit, possible help with accomodation, return ticket if you finish the "contract," average pay of 7-1000 dollars a month. Nothing much in the summer. No other benefits. |

I just contracted for one month of summer work in Istanbul for 1600YTL (just over $1000). I've got five years teaching experience and will be teaching adults. They're going to help set me up with a place to stay, but I've got to pay about $250-300 for the month. They said they'd make a contribution to my plane ticket based on the usual $350 they contribute to tickets on a 9 month contract. For a month that works out to about $50. Better than nothing.
Coming from the States, I've got to pay $1400 for my plane ticket, so I'm losing out, but making money isn't my purpose for going. I'd just like to supplement a summer abroad, and have about 3 weeks to travel before getting back for the beginning of the school year here. |
