Hi Everyone,
I have kind of a remedial question about recommendation letters - do the schools really want *me* to send them in, rather than the recommenders? that seems to be what the ads ask for but it seems kind of hard to believe. and how long are these supposed to be?
thanks!

One page is fine. No one will read more than that anyway.
Have the letter hit all the reasons the last guy was fired:
skill - knowledge of job area
reliablity and punctuality
reasonable social skills
sincere desire to help students
value-added characteristics (what other things do you bring to the mix and are you willing to do them)
It is a good habit - out here in the TEFL world - to collect reference letters from your employers (perhaps as you leave each one) - and be able to produce them for potential employers. They are not always checked - but some places are quite careful at checking. |
