|

One of my students stopped by my office to ask me a question: she wants to buy her Mom some computer software to practice studying English at home. Her mother is apparently a high beginner-low preintermediate level.
Any suggestions as to software packages she should investigate? |

I suggest you tell your student about the computer program Tell me More for English. The softaware is easy to use. I used this program to learn German. It worked for me. Check out the website from Auralog. www.auralog.com |

We use Rosetta Stone and it works really well for beginning levels to low-intermediate. The thing I like about it is that you can keep track of just about everything the students do.
I am, however, looking for software that's aimed at upper-intermediate and advanced levels, but am having a very tough time finding it. Any ideas? |

Learn To Speak English (Broderbund?)
Focus on Grammar (Longman)
are OK.
Look also at Tense Buster from Clarity.
Tne BBC has an immense series; don't know how good it is though. |
