Hi all
My mum is thinking about taking leave from her job and teaching English somewhere for six months to a year. One of her friends went to China for six months and enjoyed it, and I think it would be a good experience for her.
Now, I know that it's possible to get a job in China without TEFL/CELTA etc. I wonder if someone could tell me whether it's possible to do so in other countries such as Korea? Mum has a BA in fine arts and an MA in internet communication. She is a high level public servant in the Australian Dept of Communications and is in her late 40s.
Oh, and she's vegetarian. I know that it can be hard to find real vege food in many countries.
Any advice appreciated. |

She's overqualified for most language schools...
It's going to be awkward using you as a middleman; you should tell her to come on this site herself and start doing some research. Where would she like to go? |

It can be difficult, but not impossible, to find vegetarian food. I'm vegan, and I've managed to survive everywhere I've been! Your mom shouldn't let that affect her decision-making too much.
People always tell me how hard it will be in such-and-such a country, but those people are usually meat-eaters. Fellow vegetarians are usually pretty adept and creative, and they know where to look.
