My clock also has the temp displayed. I cant help myself, I observe the temp at home almost as much as the time. I fint it interesting how I feel uncomfortable when a new high is reached, but by the next day feel fine again.
It's now 30 degrees in my apartment and I feel great. One fan on low and it's perfect I would say. Interestingly when I first came to Japan I couldnt stand the summers. Now they are quickly becoming my favourite season. Hmm I am never here in August though. |

My clock also has the temperature. Now it's 23 degrees.
My landlord installed a new a/c this week, and I haven't figured out how to turn it off. I feel cold.
Earlier when I came home it was 30 degrees in my room. After turning on the fan, I was fine. But, I played around with the a/c, and now have a sweatshirt on because I don't know how to turn it off.
It was nice of the landlord to put it in, especially since I pay close to nothing for rent - 35,000 Yen including utilities and Internet for a 16-mat room in a traditional style house. |

I used to live in an old (about 35 years old, so almost ready for demolition by Tokyo standards) wooden Japanese-style house with no air-con, and in my bedroom on the second floor in the middle of summer it would get to 43 deg, I checked it a couple of times, in the afternoon- between 11am and 5pm I literally couldn't go into my bedroom. If I had to for some reason it would be a mad dash in and out, and I would be a sweaty dishevelled mess by the time I left the room.
In winter in the kitchen it was colder inside than outside. We had to wear our coats and hats just to sit in there to eat, and could see our breath even indoors it was so cold. The exterior walls of that house were all of about 5 centimetres thick and needless to say there was no insulation.
I very happily moved into my brand new apartment with insulation and air-con last year, but having lived in that house for a year and a half, I hardly used the air-con in this place last summer, it only gets to about 32 deg here, which is very comfortable compared to 43 |

If it isn't between 22-24 degrees, I'm uncomfortable. As I mentioned in another thread, I like my A/C and I like my space cool. In the winter it's the complete opposite... |

it is 27 C. My wife doesn`t like air conditioning, unless it is really warm, so she will turn it on for our dog (but not for us).
She doesn`t need a fan either. She prefers to have the front door slightly ajar and leave the windows open, and if there is a breeze, it is ok, but yesterday there wasn`t.
Some people, especially females, don`t like AC, since they say it gives them sore throats. |
