|
|
I've taught English in Japanese public schools for five years. I really like my job, but I would like to move on up to university teaching in Japan, Hong Kong, Dubai, Latin America, or Europe.
I have a bachelor's degree in French and I recently got a CELTA. I'll probably get a DELE in 2007.
I plan to get an MA in Applied Linguistics by coursework. It will be an external (a/k/a corrspondence or distance) degree. Would the fact that it was done off-campus disqualify me from many university jobs in Latin America? |

I dunno, I find that more and more institutions who require an M.A. ask that these degrees be earned on the ground in reputable universities. The field of ESL is becoming saturated with language instructors, so it is better not to study from a distance.

My observation is, at least in Latin America, that an MA is an MA, and most universities won't bother trying to distinguish between the two. |
