Hi guys- just a question that has been really playing on my mind since reading a few postings- I'm coming to Taiwan to teach and although I don't want to spend the next year celibate this is how I am reading the situation;
a) All ex-pat men date Taiwanese women,
b) The types of Taiwanese men attracted to ex-pat women are not the type that these women would like to have attracted to them, and
c) If you do date a Taiwanese mail and dump him he will bombard you with phone calls and txt msgs at home and at work and stalk you with his friends (sometimes even if he likes you). Shocked
Now I like men of many colours and I am coming from New Zealand- the land of the worst Male to Female ratio in the Western world and frankly I was hoping for a little better from Taiwan... any good news for me??

You do get many expat men in category a. Categories b and c (applied to Taiwanese women) are just two reasons why expat men would love meet you. Just let that personality shine.

What exactly do you mean by the "worst male to female ratio"? Do you mean there are too many women and not enough men????? Or the other way around? If it is the former, you should come to Silicon Valley in California. According to our census, this place has the highest ratio of men to women in the entire US. Worse than Alaska and that's saying something. Actually, if it is the former, are you interested in switching countries?

Man Jose/Silicon Valley is dreadful... from a male perspective. To make things even worse, the women that are here tend to be one's you would expect to see in the tech industry. Mad Fortunately, I will soon be out of here.

Yes there are too many women and not enough men there. Yes I'm sure its great if you are a man. Smile
Back to my problem!! Any females already living in Taiwan want to share their perspective on what this aspect of life in Taiwan holds? Taiwanese men? Talk to momma....

Hey,

I know there are foreign guys here who specialize in picking up the slack here. It's a lucrative area for western guys to get involved in as a lot of western women can't get anything going.

You'll find someone to stem your rose, for sure.

Yes, being the slack can't be fun. Unfortunately I think your instincts are some what true about FTs dating Chinese ladies.

Here in Shanghai I see the same thing. Most male FTs would rather just have a Chinese girl because they're less demanding and allow their men to pretty much do what ever they want, at least with Laowei.

I work in an office full of British chicks and I think they just pretty much hang out together.

Sorry. Maybe you can get a job in Europe. Poland's pretty cool.

I don't envy you. Most guys I know down there are single or married and if they were married it wasn't pretty. Twisted Evil

I used to go down there to train in Jujitsu. It was a trip because I had thought anything must be better than San Francisco, where people can be so busy sometimes that the last thing they want to do is start dating, but I was wrong.

Silicon valley is literally all dudes.

Male techies collecting Star Trek DVDs and computer games. It's pretty much the closest thing to Hell that there is.

I remember once a transvestite walked by and everyone stopped what they were doing to look at her/him, even after they realized she was a transvestite guys were still looking. Shocked

Man that is bleak.

Laughing I know I couldn't work out what to think- on the one hand I'm a rose on the other I'm lookin to be "stemmed"?
Hey its already so bad in NZ I actually don't think it can get any worse. Its as bad as it was in WWII. Apparently. I believe it. Anyway the good news is I'm coming to Taiwan where potential partners are significantly less likely to already be related to your mother!! WOOHOO Laughing

There's a similar discussion going on, on the China off-topic board.

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewtopic.php?t=36352&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I wonder if someday the China board will overtake the Taiwan board?

Twisted Evil

Good times.
