|
|
Just moved to Lima a few weeks ago, and after relaxing and traveling for a few weeks, its time to hit the pavement and start looking for a teaching position. Does anyone know of an opportunities available. I have a college degree from a US university, but no TEFL, and no experience.
Thanks |

At least a year, and then maybe up to Trujillo for a year. I hear trujillo is much cleaner, and more laidback compared to Lima |

I'm thinking along the same lines as you Vin1127. Everything I have read about Trujillo and parts of the north sound quite nice. I'm a bit adverse to the mountain towns, but it sounds like there is quite a lot of work to be found in Cusco and Arequipa if you interested in that area.
Since you are in Lima, if you hear of any TEFL cert courses starting soon please PM me or post to the board. I am looking for one in Lima or the North Coast. Also let us know how your search goes. You could also read the thread a little down the forum page about Trujillo. 'keepwalking' is in that city and seems very knowledgeable.
The biggest negative about Trujillo might be the lack of bountiful gringo tourism that fuels the need for English teachers. This apparently makes the Cusco scene plentiful with work. Maybe as Chan-Chan starts to lure in more tourists, Trujillo will eventually become a hot bed. Just my thoughts.
Good Luck.... |
