So, I've made it to Tokyo and start Gaba training next week. They are sponsoring my visa so I am contracted to teach 160 lessons per month with them. Originally they told me I was assigned to one LS which is closed one day a week. On one hand, I realize that these closure dates may make it difficult to fulfill the 160 lessons per month (and to belt up by focusing on peak hours), but on the other hand I liked the fact that I would have a fixed day off every week.

But Gaba has now recommended that I switch to another office with more demand...but these offices are open everyday.

What would the former/current Gaba instructors on this forum recommend that I do? I'm kind of afraid of being pressured to work all weekends and holidays and thus have no semblance of a normal social life, so I'm tempted to tell them I prefer to stay with the original assigned office...but I'm hesitant to refuse their "recommendation" and also to risk not getting enough hours to satisfy my contract....any advice that former/current Gaba instructors have is much appreciated!

I've replied to your PM already. But the short version is, you will be pressured to get enough hours to meet your visa requirements (and anyway you will need to get them to have enough money to live on). If you aren't getting them in your home LS you will be expected to be available every hour it is open. If you still aren't getting them, I expect they will farm you out to other LSs that are open at weekends/holidays.

Sorry to be so cynical, but my advice is: you have your visa, now focus on getting a job. GABA doesn't count as a job. Take whatever option is least likely to interfere with your job-hunting activities.
