HI, I've been offered a management job in Dubai with an American company that does business ESL. They are offering $50k, but from that I have to pay for my own housing. I am a single person, but I am afraid that housing is going eat away about $18,000 a year of that. The job is in Knowledge Village. What kind of housing options are there in that area? What are prices for normal, furnished 1 bedrooms? The salary seems a little low to me considering that housing is not included, but I would appreciate comments from people in Dubai who know more about housing prices, etc. Also..is it true that in Dubai you normally have to pay a year of rent in advance? Is that common, or is six months advance also common? Thanks! |

Yes, accomodation is expensive in Dubai mainly because most of the flats and apartments are occupied by business people from the former Soviet countires. And it is true that in Dubai you have to pay on annually basis. The best thing is to ask your school management to get you a flat or to direct you to an estate agent. Good luck |

A few friends of mine have bought a one bedroom property rather than rent. In this way you would have an income if you were to leave, marry or get a different job that paid a housing allowance. If you are to get a lump sum, get the maximum benefit out of it |
