I am trying to figure out just how and how long it will take to get from Colima to Ixtepec in Oaxaca state. The best Ive been able to find online, which I know isnt a great way of figuring out the mexican bus system, from DF to Ixtepec.
Does anyone know of a route from Guadalaraja to Ixtepec or to a town near Ixtepec. I understand the bus systems kind of divide the country into their own regions. Is there a particular company that services the pacific coast?
Thanks for you help.

The TicketBus site covers a lot of Mexico. Have you seen that?

Jason,
Are you in Mexico now? If you are, just take yourself to the nearest bus station and take a look at the boards. I've seen the most surprising destinations on Mexican bus station boards over the years! Or, if your Spanish is ok, you can always ask, they have all the information on the computers too.
Also, the Cristobal Colon group travels along the Pacific Coast, but I don't know if they go as far up as Colima. I've never experienced it myself, but I've heard warnings for the bit in between Puerto Escondido and Zihuatenejo. You're not going to get shot or anything, but keep an eye on your luggage.
Happy travels!

You have basically two options.
Colima-Mexico City-Tehuantepec/Ixtepec
In this route you have to change bus stations in Mexico City.
Another is the along the coast route
If there are buses from Colima to Acapulco get one of those, from there get a bus to Salina Cruz, then from Salina Cruz you can travel to Ixtepec.
I recently started a thread on guide books. The LP or Rough Guide should have information in the getting there an away sections. |

Thanks guys,
Ive used ticketbus before when i was in mexico, but when your trying to get around the pacific coast ticketbus becomes basically useless. Its great from DF adn south and east. If your going to Veracruz, QR, Oaxaca(even Ixtepec) then its great. But anything west of DF is off their radar. I know the mexican bus system is not exactly up-to-date on their websites but Im just trying to get a general idea of the time it takes to get between the two towns. My girlfriend has a job at a uni in Ixtepec and I am going to Colima and we are trying to figure out if we will ever see each other.,
Anyawys, thanks for your help....just to let you know Im posting another questions about her safety in Ixtepec so I would appreciate anyone who has experience in Ixtepec to chip in on that one. |
