Two days before the camp was supposed to begin this school abruptly cancelled their summer program leaving ten of us without a job, all this after having signed a contract on May 25.. The reason, we weren't "Qualified" The director there, Mr Yi then proceeded to confess that in fact they hadn't recruited enough students for the program (60 students in all )
Its been one lie, excuse after another.. Anyone else had this experience with them? They seem horribly disorganized.. |

WordUp,
Thanks for taking the time to post your horrific experience in Guangzhou. Welcome to China! Let me also say to you "Heads up!" because there are a few notorious posters at this forum that will likely turn up soon and find a way to blame YOU for your situation with Nuesoft.
Will you remain in Guangzhou? In China? |

hey, I have found a similiar situation last year. I was told by my school in beijing that they will be having a summer school and that i would be teaching for them. Naturally, as I was under contract already to them, I did not look for another job for the summer. Summer comes - lo and behold - not enought students so no summer schoo. What they did instead is rented out the school campus to another english camp and left me sitting there with no work.
and yeah - just igore anyone who come back and says it is your fault. |

I know one such poster, thank you, "frank d'!
Yes, you can turn every thread against its originator, can't you? Why did the O.P. sign up for summer camp? Didn't he have a heart in his chest that was beating for the poor downtrodden youths of Guangdong that were supposed to sacrifice their hard-earned holidays? Now the stupid camp has been cancelled, the parents saved their money and the kids can enjoy themselves in the first-ever Swimathlon in the Pearl River...
In other parts of China I noticed a proliferation of adverts soliciting young travellers (shamelessly addressing "backpackers", "tourists" and so on!) to help run a summer camp, "free accommodation, free meals and free excursions" provided.
You see, the Chinese are no longer as dumb as they used to be - these days they do get something for their money - their kids get all the benefits and foreigners are just there for the fun, not just for the dough.
Methinks that addresses the needs of both sides adroitly!
And I sign

Do you really question this. What other reason do people sign contract, sometimes you post the most idiotic reasoning. The money and job, son, the money and the job is why anyone signs on the dotted line.

Its a summer camp, for cryin out loud. Did you ever go to a summer camp? did they tell "Red Kelly" stories and then provide some instruction by day in Arts and crafts. You can bet those Indian counselors were teenagers given to summer employment and even though they let you play chef, your no longer in summer camp and you should let those frightful feelings of "bed wetting" go instead of projecting your shame on backpackers who are padding the travel kitty with a part time job. |

I didn't think that "Summer Camp" in China was songs and ghost stories around the campfire, wienie roasts, and canoeing on the lake. For some reason, I thought it was more like summer cram school and babysitting to make sure the kids didn't lose their academic edge and start to do anything dangerous like have a good time or play or be creative. Was i so wrong, so misled, so horribly off-track?
Still, I think that when anyone's contract is breeched it's a dastardly deed. The literary device known as sarcasm is being employed here frank d, and it's in direct response to your unnecessary, preemptive post.

Given Roger's reputation, and now your up-and-coming one, I'd say it was more than justified.
Wait till someone screws YOU out of a contract. I'll be waiting to shove this post in your face.
But it's all different when YOU'RE the victim, isn't it? |

A few words about another Neusoft location (because I can't speak for that particular location):
This is a clip from an article that mentions Neusoft here in Dalian:
In Dalian, for example, some 3,000 students at the East Soft Information Institute, set up jointly by Northeast University and East Soft Group Company, attacked campus facilities in December, sending several teachers to the hospital. They rioted after they were told their diplomas would include the word "online" to distinguish them from the regular graduation certificates issued by Northeast University.
I worked there for a short-time, and wasn't impressed by management either. This guy also worked there at the time, and you may be able to find more info on his site.
Bottom line: Neusoft seems like it needs to get it's *beep* together. No matter what the location. |

Hi Frank,
I agree with you about alot of posters here.. But I find Roger refreshing.. I don't always agree with him but his point of view is definately unpretentious. its the whiney useless meandering posts of emotional illogical beasts that give me eye cancer and turn me away from this forum.
I'm not actually new to China, but I was new to Guangzhou and helped to arrange everything for our group to get down there and work.. I feel responsible to some degree, I wish I could have foreseen this.. It just happened so fast with no warning.
We had made followup phone calls twice per month to see if they needed a foreign face to help them recruit students.. we asked em' how they were doing with it.. "Everything is fine" was their common reply.. So I mean, it was just point blank discusting that this guy was so inconsiderate that 10 teachers who were contracted for the job since May had to fret cause this guy was a incompetant moron.
On a positive note, since I last posted.. JE helped us out after this fiasco and managed to place us in Zhejiang and extended our tours on their dime. So I know alot of you guys have quams about recruiters, but these guys have been really stand up and down to earth.
Well thats all for now, F - Nuesoft! |
