Does anyone have any experience or recommendations regarding guarantor services? I found the International Guarantor Service (igs55.com) and they seem to be a possibility and only charge 1 months rent to act as guarantor (the fact that I just wrote that sentence makes me think I've been in Japan too long).
I've seen mention of services that only charge half a months rent and has something to do with the Japan Guarantors Association. Does anyone have any idea on this? |

What visa are you on in Japan that you would need a guarantor? If you are working, your company should take the roll. If you are a student, your school should take the roll. |

I used a guarantor service that was only half a months rent, then another half every year I think?? It was a while ago so I can't remember the name but they're out there.
By the way Nismo many employers will not be your guarantor if you are setting up home by yourself. These companies can be a life saver. Guarantors are usually for accomodation not for visas. Different to a sponsor! |

I wasn't refering to visa sponsorship. I meant that ethical employers should act as the guarantor for accomodation.
Anyway, as far as going through a company to find an apartment (i.e. Able / エイブル) - I had a really bad experience. |

I sponsor my own visa and work for my company so I guess that means I am an unethical employer. I hate myself, such an arse to work for. lol.
Wobbling can you give me any more information on the service you used? I'm a little iffy about igs55.com as I know no one who has gone through them.
I have friends who would act as guarantor but I do not feel comfortable as if something happened to me they would be liable. |
