Hello all.
I have been offered a position in Vietnam and have the following questions on the topic of visa procedures. I have seen some references made on this board regarding the need of a background check. Is that a requirement of the government for anyone wanting to teach in country? Or is it a policy that may differ from school to school?
To date my prospective employer has not mentioned the need for one. My major concern is the time it will take to secure such a report. I am an American living in London, and have been told that it will take 10 weeks from the time I was finger printed.
I have been around and know enough about the ESL game to know that the best source of info is from other teacher in country. Any input will be great appreciated.
Thank you |

Yes, it's the law here. To work as a teacher here you need w work permit, and to get the permit you need a criminal background check. As a Brit this was relatively painless for me, but a lot of hassle for my US colleagues. Check the "what you need to bring to Vietnam" sticky for more info. |
