Hi,

I've searched this forum, along with a few others, to find any information from other people recruited by THINK CSI to start working at the new Nescot Jeddah Female College this September; but have been largely unsuccessful.

Are there any people who are moving to Jeddah to work there? The recruiters seem good, but their communication has been extremely delayed during Ramadaan (apparently this is standard Saudi practice).

Have you been provided with any information about the location of the college and accommodation? Is it very far out of central Jeddah?

Have your visas been processed and flight dates confirmed as yet?
I'm just looking for any other people in the same boat Smile

Obviously if it is new, there will be no information to be found as there is no track record. Most of us with extensive Gulf experience avoid these new places where there also appears to be a new recruiter/contractor. Expect massive disorganization and bring lots of patience and a sense of humor because you will need them. Cool

And if this is your first Saudi or Middle East job... don't do it... seriously. If you don't know the drill and drawbacks, don't take a job with an employer that may be as clueless as you as to the system.

This is all we know so far about this college: "UK colleges to run women's vocational institute in KSA" (http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=102728). It's brand spankin' new.

Hi miss_t

I had an interview with Think CSI and someone from UK (NESCOT College) about 2 weeks ago. The interview went pretty well..........but till now no reply. I still don't know the status.

When was your interview? Have you signed a contract?

It's a new college 'hopefully' starting in September. I'm sure things will take longer then expected.

Thanks VS and nomad soul Smile

europe1,
I have signed a job offer, the detailed contract was meant to follow once they had begun the visa application (that was before ramadaan).
At the moment, I've heard nothing from them aside from the opening being postponed for a month.
With regard to the interview, I contacted the recruitment agent after a week or so to find out whether things were moving forward or not.

Evidently, all the posts about Saudi working on their own time were true. If this job comes through, it's definitely going to be a huge culture shock with regards to work ethic and the professional environment Smile

I interviewed with Think CSI and they sent me a job offer that I signed and E-mailed back to them almost a month ago. The only response I have recieved from them after contacting them several times regarding the Saudi visa is that it is in process and we will contact you in the near future. I called them last week and was told that they would contact me this week which did not happen. I do not know what to think. Has anyone that signed a job offer with them recieved follow up contact from them regarding the Saudi visa or anything else?

miss_t: In case you haven't run across these passages which describe this new college, here are the links: The college appears to be linked somehow to some British institutions:

http://www.nescot.ac.uk/news/2013/06/20/nescot-consortium-wins-%C2%A375million-contract-to-run-saudi-arabias-first-women-only-college/#!prettyPhoto

http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/local/topstories/10493520.UK_colleges_get___75m_contract_to_run_women_s_institute_in_Saudi_Arabia/

At the same time, it is important to remember that words such as
*Excellence* (امتـياز ) and *Distinguished* (متـمـيز ) are ubiquitous throughout the Kingdom......and they mostly signify nothing.

PS...another term making the rounds lately is (معجزة ) pronounced (mo'ajaza). It means a "marvel" or a "miracle". Wink

Hi there,

did anyone actually make it over to Nescot College in Jeddah? I would appreciate some information about what it is like working for them as I have an initial offer from them for ESL teacher. Any insight will be useful.

Any educational institution that feels the need to include words like excellence, exemplary and so on in their name is dodgy in my book!
