Hello everybody,

I'm arriving in Barcelona in September and have some questions about cost of living etc...

1) What would be a reasonable salary for a teacher with Celta, 2 yrs exp and degree

2) Cost of living: transport, food (eating in) and, of course, beer.

3) What's the general dress code? The same as here in the UK?

4) Oh, I'd also like to take some Spanish lessons so I'm wondering how much they'd cost?

5) I'm also wondering about the cost of gym memberships, kung fu classes and yoga classes...

That's all for now, thanks in advance, C

A reasonable salary depends so much on whether you want private classes, business classes, kids classes, etc. The pay scale varies at every school, but unfortunately, doesn't vary much for teachers with experience vs. new teachers. In Barcelona a full time schedule is in the range of 800-1200 Euros a month depending on where you work and how much you do.
I don't know about the UK, but the dress code here is a little nicer than it is for teachers in the U.S. - people are fairly fashion conscious.
Spanish lessons are like English classes - the rates vary a lot- for private classes between 10-25 Euros an hour.

Thanks...

I'm also wondering (although I've found many sites already) if anyone can help with websites advertising jobs in Barcelona? Any advice would be helpful. THanks Carol
