Hi Everyone,

First time poster here.

Can anyone give me a flavour of the current working climate and contract overview with this centre? I note the feedback from 2003/4 on this forum which was very negative. Has it improved? The Centre is recruiting researchers for various positions and I have recently had a telephone interview. I am concerned about the punitive control measures mentioned in previous posts and wondered whether they still apply (e.g. handing over passports, clocking in and out, withholding 10% salary each month, not allowing leave until one year complete etc...). It does not, based on information from previous posts, sound a fun place to work. Are things better/worse now? Any updates would really be appreciated.

Cheers,

The "old" MLI system was once run along somewhat similar lines - but I dare to ask, "You are a researcher - into what?"
People will tell u that this is an ESL Forum!
Some MLI Teachers had some experience with this center if I recall - to tutor one on one with some bigwig or army general. However, if GHQ (as it did with MLI) has any part in your contract, then I would advise you to FLEE and run for your life (unless it is an extremely guaranteed lucrative contract)!

Thanks Peterpan. I know it's an ESL forum but I am just trying to get some general info on the Centre. A google search came up with references to this site, hence the post. Not much info about this Centre on the web apart from the comments on this site. Anyway thanks for your reply.

Cheers,

A colleague of mine worked there a couple of years back. He said he hated the place.
