Hi, all. My friend who has Cystic Fibrosis (CF) was thinking of coming to Japan to visit me; however, this genetic disease entails large amounts of medications that he needs to take multiple times a day and possibly other kinds of medical attention. I'm worried that 1. he may have a difficult time bringing in his medicine into Japan and 2. If something were to happen to him, he may not get proper treatment. Anyone have any insight about this? |

he would need to get a list from his doctor of what his medications are as some may contain banned substances.
It should be possible to get equivalent medications from Japanese doctors. Does he plan to work here or just visit? There are English speaking doctors in Japan who could prescribe treatment for him. |

Hi, PaulH. Thank you for your reply. He's just planning to visit. I'd feel most comfortable if it were ony a short time though. I'll have him write that list down for me. In the meantime, I think it's best to start searching for some English speaking doctors. Should I do a search for that on the forum? |

English speaking doctors.
Treatment will vary depending on hospital. University hospitals are generally reliable and many doctors do clinical training overseas and speak English.
