Would like some feedback on how difficult it might be to get a job at a good school with an online TESOL certtificate. I'm considering a certificate offered by OxfordTefl.com that they say is validated by Trinity College, London, or possibly a certificate offered by BridgeLinguatec at teflonline.com. I already have eight years of university teaching experience in the sciences. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I'd say more or less impossible, if you don't have any experience in the field. Your definition of 'good' may vary, but anywhere which accepts online certs is unlikely to require any qualifications at all. |

On-line certs are better than nothing - they at least show an interest in improving your skills. Generally, employers don't ask for - or recognize them. However, a thinking hiring authority would see that you at least tried to gain some additional expertise - compared to someone who didn't. |
