I will be taking a short trip from Tokyo to Hiroshima then down to Nagasaki. I was just wondering what the best way to get there is. I'm thinking to take the Shinkansen to Hiroshima, spend a night. I'm not sure what is the best way to get to Nagasaki from Hiroshima though. Is there an express train or is it better to take a ferry? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That is not a short trip. It is a fairly long trip.

The Shinkansen goes all the way to Fukuoka from Tokyo. Then you can take a slower train from Fukuoka to Nagasaki; probably from Tenjin Station in Fukuoka (Hakata).

You will want to spend a few days in Hiroshima, so that you can see both the city and nearby Miyajima Island. The shine and village there are easily one of the best things to see in Japan. You would be an ignorant fool to miss them. Smile
