|
|
A few FT's mentioned in a recent thread that the rules have changed for the medical exam for the visas -- now, if you are already a FT teaching in China, and you are just renewing your papers, you do not need to do the medical over, and they did not need to re-do their medicals for their new papers.
Does anyone else know about this? Has anyone else not had to do the medical exam for their visa renewal this year? If so, does anyone know:
--When this rule changed -- is it a new change as of this year?
--Where the Chinese government publishes the official rules and guidelines for the FT visa renewals (hopefully including updates and changes) -- perhaps on a government web site? (I think they do somewhere, as I remember once seeing an official Chinese government web site that posted the rules for FT contracts.)
Thanks a lot .... Suppa |

I have been in Wuhan for two years now and I can only comment on my own experience. I have worked at two different public universities in the city.
I have only been required to have the comprehensive medical examination, including blood tests, at the start of my first year here.
I recently had my Residence Permit/Work Visa extended for a third year. No new medical examination was necessary.
Sorry I can't help with answers to your other two questions. |

| Like Laoshi, my papers were recently renewed for another year at the same school without another physical. |

| You can renew using the old physical paperwork. |

| This isn't a new thing. As long as you stay in the same city you don't need to redo your medical. I was in Wuxi for 3 years and I only had one medical which I got just after I first came to China. However after I changed cities about 1 1/2 years ago, I was required to have another full medical. |

Well, this is getting more and more interesting. Actually, on another thread ("medical exam question"), a number of people wrote that they did not need a new medical even when they went to a new city in a new province.
It seems the FAO's/public officials are not clear on the policy, and hence we are left not knowing as well. If anyone can shed more light on this, it would be helpful. Thanks ..... Suppa |
