After much internet searching I have found a program that seems worthwhile. They claim to offer a four-week TEFL class followed by up to five months paid employment in their ESL school. The cost is $900 for everything. This seems fantastic, but I'm just wary of scams. Does it seem legit? Has anyone had any experience with this organization? Is there anything that I should consider before joining, or some aspect of the program that might make it less appealing?

Here's the link. You can view the FAQ and other tabs if you are so inclined.

Also, is a work visa hard to get in Peru? Does it take long? Can I just get a tourist visa and work illegally?

Cheers
Rob

I am signed up and will begin the 4 week TEFL in Trujillo on October 2nd.
Scroll down the page to the thread "Vive Peru TEFL in Trujillo" to read the discussion regarding
the legitimacy of the program and a 1st person account from someone who went through it recently.

Mixed Reviews.

I expect to continue to work in Peru after receiving the cert. Doubtful I will attain a work Visa which appears difficult and my plan is to work on a tourist visa and make border runs until/unless I deem my experience in Peru enjoyable enough for a longer stay.
