Hello, I am planning to travel to Argentina in January, travel around then stick in Chile and hopefully work for 6 months. I'd like to do this outside Santiago if possible - not a fan of capital cities. So my questions are; Feb/march is an ok time to look for work? - teachingchile is a rip-off with the placement fee? - How easy is it to turn up on schools' doors and find work, and will I need to get a visa before I arrive? So any advice or links to relevant threads would be appreciated. Cheers |

I can understand you wanting to get out of the big bad cities, but from what I've seen in my short time here, Chile is very centralised around Santiago. I have a friend whose parents travel nine hours from their hometown to come to the doctor's in Santiago. I'm not sure what kind of schools are in the other regions, but for sure if you knock on the doors of institutes here, they'll give you an interview and you can get work fairly easy. |
