I know of Shirahama, but I was kind of thinking closer 
Anyone know if there are some good spots near Osaka or Wakayama or even on Awaji Island, for example

Can`t say it`s a `great` surf spot, but it`s the closest to Osaka and good for getting wet.
Isonoura Beach is in Wakayama-city.
From Nankai Namba Station:
* Take the Nankai Main Line to Wakayama-city. (apx 60 min)
* Transfer to the Nankai Kada Line.
* Get off at Isonoura Station. (10 mins.)
Walk 50 meters and you`re on the sand.
Soft mushy waves. Get it right before or after a typhoon for head high waves. It`s usually always small. Take a longboard if you can. |

| I just spent the weekend at Wakasa Bay (in Fukui) and it was awesome. Practically everyone I met there was from Osaka. The water was perfect. |
