Hi everyone,

I wanted to know if there are any Muslim women who have had job offers. If you have, how did your employer address the mahram issue? Are there exceptions to the 3 month probation rule for bringing your family? It would only be my husband, we don't have kids.

The job offer I received mentions a probationary period but it's not specific. Honestly, I thought it was like any other job anywhere else. You always have that 3 month period. I assumed, initially, that it was really testing you out to see if you're suitable or if they want to keep you. I tried contacting the institution but I haven't gotten an answer yet and it's a bit of a concern. They want an acceptance or refusal in 3 days.

It's described only as new employee allowance. I actually found out about this from other posts on this forum. I took a look at a website for my prospective employer which mentioned what they offer. It's not the same as the offer I received but that one issue still concerns me. This issue would make my decision for me.

So, any info is greatly appreciated.

Amal

I am not Muslim, but I have had several colleagues who are.

If your employers demand that you pass a 3 month probation period before they apply for a visa for your husband, it doesn't matter if you are Muslim or not. You will not get special privileges because of your faith, at least not in this regard.

BTW not all employers demand that you pass a probationary period before you can bring over family members. Some will at least try to get a visa for you and your dependents at the same time. Once again, however, do not expect any special treatment because of your religion.

Thank you for the information. I understand that there won't be special treatment based on my religion. The issue is that it mentions a 3 month probationary period. Specifically:

New Employment Allowance:1) Married Status Employee: One Month Basic Salary
2) Single Status Employee: Half Month Basic Salary
Payable after successful completion of Probationary Period of (90) days.

I didn't take it to mean that I couldn't apply for my spouse until then but based on the information on their website I started having questions. Does that make sense? It seems clear, at first gance. As I mentioned, I'm new to this realm, lol. I just don't want to say yes or no without being sure. I guess the bigger issue is they want a response in 3 days.

But, I do appreciate any and all information from everyone here.

Thanks again,

Amal
