Does anyone here know if there is any kind of spoken word scene in Japan. Like open mics or poetry readings. And if so, how big is it? How difficult or easy is it to find out about these types of events? |

Yeah, there are poetry readings...in Japanese. Here are some links:

Not sure what kind of a market there'd be for English-language poetry readings in Japan--though I imagine you might see an occasional reading in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, etc. The Japan Today "Poetry & Books" forum would be the best place to ask about this:

Finally, there are a number of very good English-language poets/authors in Japan, with some writers' groups operating as well. |
