Hi,

Are there any free non-ESOL expat forums like this one for expats in Mexico. I've got questions that have more to do with living in Mexico City (a long-awaited dream come true which just became a reality for me a few days ago...yeah!!!) than teaching in Mexico City. I mean, I've seen non-teaching posts here, and I've posted non-teaching stuff here, but I don't want to over do it, you know?

So which expats-in-Mexico forum(s) do you go to when you're not here at good old Dave's?

Thanks,
K.

I havent had much luck with finding what you are looking for either. I even tried to start one over at the Mexico City Craigs List but no luck. There is a Newcomers Club but they charge for membership.

Afraid Daves might be your best bet, at least for now. If youre looking to meet other expats, contact me, Guy, Freddy or Dixie via PM here on Daves or you can email me directly at [email protected]. We all seem to be the welcome wagon around here! Laughing

Aye. But don't forget Gearonson, Phil K, Ajarnernst (sp?), and others. In fact, kdaca, there's a get together coming up Aug. 19th. Scroll down the forum threads to find it.

What's that one, Mexconnect or something? but they charge and are mostly geared towards retirees.
There are some Mexico tribes on tribe.net which have some activity, but those seem more geared towards vacationers. There is a fairly active forum on Tomzap's page, but it is more focused on Oaxaca specifically.

I agree go ahead and ask here, that way your questions can help lurkers as well. And definately go to the get together.

Good Luck in the City of Hope.

Dont forget about the Lonely Planet Thorntree Mexico Forum or Trip Advisor forms. Theyre quite active with seasoned travellers and experts.

http://www.expatforum.com/expats/mexico-expat-forum-expats-living-mexico/ (but I don't actually frequent that forum because I find this one more useful).
