I am a teacher of nine years looking to teach in Dubai. Does anyone know of any schools that are currently hiring?

Teaching what level? What are your credentials? The decent jobs will want to see the correct academic accreditation.

Currently I am teaching adults. I have a BA in English Literature and have completed all my masters courses (but thesis) in comparative literature. I have taught all levels from 7th grade to University. I have taught ESL, EFL, Literature, reading comprehension, writing courses, as well as test-taking skills...

The universities almost all require an MA plus experience. A few will consider a BA + CELTA + related experience. The best of the international schools require certification in primary or secondary from your own country. Hiring is normally done in the early spring, and it is really too late for foreign hires at this point.

So, I suspect that your options are not extensive... some of the international schools and the language schools.

Ditto to what VS said, though, being a tense time in the Middle East, you may see more jobs posted as people may be pulling out last minute (they do this in August every year even when things in the middle east are less tense). Keep your eyes on the site below-this site updates every Friday and this is the most current listing.

(MOD edit - link removed)

VS, any chance Higher Colleges will take someone with his/her experience as a last-minute hire?

HCT? last minute hires with limited credentials are always local hire - adjuncts - normally already there with a spouse working elsewhere.

VS, even that may be a thing of the past. Adjuncts are now required to have the same qualifications as full-time faculty.

Hey Stoth...

Check out Frank Verity's posting history. He also posts under the name 'henry.'

In both of his personas, he is madly in love with me and now follows me around and makes himself look a bigger and bigger fool. Apparently he is very bored this summer.

For a good laugh, check out the locked thread on the Saudi board. Laughing

It is a twilight home for case hardened TEFL matrons who would make Susan Sontag look like Pamela Anderson.Their common dialect is verbal bottox.
