Does anyone know how and when we can get our housing allowance ? I 'll be arriving HK soon and wondering if I could get the allowance before September 1st...

You need to fill in an application form for the special allowance, get it authorised by your school and get them to forward it to the EMB.
The EMB will decide if you are eligible for the allowance (i.e. not resident in HK) and then pay the allowance monthly alongside you salary.
You can apply as soon as you can get to your school, but there is no way you'll get the money before Sep. If you're lucky it will arrive with your Oct salary, but more likely Nov.
You can apply for a salary advance which is then paid back over 6 months.
