some friends are thinking of going to Puerto Escondido. are the beaches really as good as "they" say? i know some of you guys live and teach there/near there. what else is there to do there? good restaurants, bars? thanks!

| Some of the beaches are good for walking, some for surfing, and some for swimming. Yes, there are plenty of bars and nightclubs. It's fairly 'gringofied' so if your friends don't have much Spanish skill it's any easier place to get by. I'd recommend walking up the big hill; for a town of its size PE has a pretty decent public market on the weekends. |
