Hi, I am teaching in Korea now. I have BSc degree. Unforturnately I had pretty bad experience with the private own academies(Hagwon). I am thinking to move once I will finish my 1 year contract.

I am a New Zealand Chinese. My Chinese ethnic will be my big downfall if I apply for NET. I understand that. It is just reality. I have 3 years ESL experience when I was living in Singapore. However, there is no way I can prove that. I will have 1 year ESL experience in Korea which can be proved. I am working towards my Master's in TESOL now.

Just want expert's advice... Do you think I should try to apply for NET? Will I have a good chance to be selected??? Are NET really happy about their jobs and lifestyle in HK currently???

Thanks a lot

Sorry about the bad experience in Korea.
You shouldn't worry about your Chinese ethnicity as there are NETs from many backgrounds on the NET scheme.
If you are interested in becoming a NET then apply. There is nothing lost and everything to gain, if that is what you want.
Even if NETs aren't so happy in their jobs, most love living in HK. I have been here 5 years and find it a great place to live.

Whilst Ann in HK is certainly correct in saying that ethnicity is no barrier to employment under the NET scheme, an inability to write coherent and legible English most certainly would be.
