Dear colleagues,
Hoping you more experienced job seekers in China can help me with this.
I’ve looking high and low for a good University job, but ads from Unis are not many around...
I’ve sent my Cv to a couple of recruiters. In two instances , I was given an interview and sent a blank contract afterwards. Not any mentioning of salary per month...
Is this practice normal in China?
Usually a contract (job offer) would come with a salary per month, so you can take a stand to the whole thing...
Baffled about this... |

I would fill in the amount which you think is acceptable.
After that virtually everything can be negotiated. |

Never heard of this practice, I would establish (from the recruiter) the salary before interview, otherwise you could be just wasting your time , if they offer 5000 Rmb or some crazy low figure.
Jobs for the coming second semester may not be available yet (term starts late in the month next February) , but I suggest you sign up for angelina's cafe or abroadchina.org for Uni jobs. They should generate some offers and interest from employers. |

The 'recruiter' has no specific vacancy in mind and wants to hawk you around.
'Neg' is quite sufficient to get him/her started. |

Hi all,
Thanks for your answers!
In both cases I did interview with the school people, but what I found a little strange is that they didn’t name a salary to start with.
The contracts were very specific as to my money penalties if I left before the contract finished, but strangely not mentioning of what I should receive per month first!

| Ask about the monetary penalties they will incur if they don't pay you your full monthly salary on time. |
