Anyone else freaked about the recent terrorist plot that un-folded yesterday?? I know it is a constant threat, but wow. I wish they would just make a new rule, NO CARRY ON BAGS EVER. Sucks, but it would be worth it and ease my mind.
Here's to hoping my flight goes smoothly! |

Me too. I was thinking of a quick trip to visit a mate in Korea before uni starts again, but now I really don't feel like gettting on a plane. As for carry-on luggage, that's usually the only kind I take. I don't trust the baggage handlers and I don't like wasting time at the other end. A ban on carry-on baggage is a real nuisance, but if that's what it takes... |

I only ever take carry-on as well, but I am totally willing to give up the conveniece for safety. I think we have officially lost our carry-on privaleges. If people are just walking on with nothing but a passport and wallet, then we wont have to worry about someones tooth paste killing us...eekkk |

I share the same fears as you two, only I'm not the one flying...my girlfriend is. She'll be visiting me from America next week and I can only pray for a safe trip.
I actually have more fear of her returning safely back to the US from here rather than her arriving here. Lets hope both are safe, here in Japan and around the world. |

There is truly nothing that I could say to allay your fears. As someone who used to work in the airline industry though, let me say (with an international flight one week away), that I am not in the least bit concerned about flying. If anything, the friendly skies are safer than they were a week ago. A threat was determined to exist and they took decisive action. Is the threat completely removed? No, it never will be. Just like fines for speeding, jail time for drunk driving etc., could never remove the possibility that you will be killed in a car accident by someone breaking those laws.
Might I suggest, instead of worrying, that you take the time to remind your loved ones how much you care about them. Take the time to spread a little sunshine around you. Make the world a brighter place! Contemplate all the little joys that make life worth living.
Wishing everyone safe travels - by foot, by bicycle, by car, by train, by motorcycle, by plane, by boat... |

I'm flying to Tokyo on the 27th, I'm kinda nervouse but thats mroe to do with the fact I've only ever flown once to dublin form the UK so 11 hours is a big flight. Although i completly see the purpose of the no hand luggage thing it does kinda of *beep* me because I need to take my laptop to Japan and its gonna put my weight over if i can't take it as hand luggage, but I'd rather be out wieght wise than dead hehe.
Anyway i think theres not much need ofr concern with non trans atlantic flights! |

Think again.

MANILA (AFP) - An alleged terror plot to blow up US-bound jetliners from Britain is eerily reminiscent of a foiled 1995 Al-Qaeda conspiracy to explode planes from Asia over the Pacific Ocean, experts say. |
