Please explain this small problem.I have received the foreign expert working permit and invitation from University. To obtain foreign expert working permit I required a medical from my Doctor which covered blood tests chest etc this was completed and accepted by PRC in China. The Chinese embassy visa department in Australia will not stamp my passport until I have their medical form completed this includes ECG test. Why do I require two medical tests?

Thank you,
DHTML.

Unless some new rules and/or regulations came up very recently, this is yet another example of different regulations and different rules in different countries when it comes to the Chinese Consulate/Embassy. Did you make a photocopy of the medical report? Just show it to the staff.

Dear OP,
Dear TW,

No, let me explain here.

Although many FTs take their medical in China, they never get to see the bilingual form that is actually used by the Export/Import Quarantine Health Departments across China. It is a very standard form that is used throughout the country to ensure that all the same tests are conducted in basically the same way throughout the country. Once this form has been completed and entered into the Health Department's Central Database (yes, there actually is one), then the little Orange Book with Photo is issued.

The Chinese Embassy in Canberra is perfectly correct in insisting that the standard form be used. Even if they were to issue a Z visa without this form, and it has happened in some cases in another countries, once you arrived in China you would be sent for retesting. It's as simple as that.

As you know the rules surrounding issuance and renewal of Z visas / resident permits have changed, and two of the major revisions affect the Foreign Expert Certificate and the Medical Examination.

It's a shame that the OP didn't check with the consular authorities prior to his having his medical done. In the States, the Consulates are very forthcoming with this piece of information.

All the best,

HFG
