I am bilingual German and English and wanted to know if there are any opportunities for German speakers in addition to English? |

I was speaking to a French teacher here a few months ago and she was saying that German is taking over as "the other language" in Europe.
I thought that was interesting. Whether it's taking effect in Japan yet, I don't know. |

NOVA hires German teachers. However, there are less options. For example, if you work for NOVA as a German teacher, there aren't as many options to earn extra money. And the teacher doesn't like NOVA, what is he/she going to do? Move home. |

Hey! I live in London and have many friends who teach MFL both in the UK and Italy, was this French teacher from Europe? I can tell you that German is not taking over as the 2nd language here! Far from it!! ITS DEAD!! No one in Europe is taking German, as a result german departments across the land are shrinking and universitys and schools dropping the subject!! Kids here are opting more for Spanish and Italian!
French is still most studied after ENglish, but only just, within the next few years it'll be Spanish!!
Look at the fourms on tes.co.uk and look through articles in the guardian! In my graduating class, there were a few teachers who offered German and they've had a tough time getting jobs, they're now trying to learn French or Spansih so they have a decent shot at a job!!
PM me if you'd like more info! |

Just posting what I was told.
And yes, this French teacher was from France and was, this will rock your world, French.
I was surprised by it because I actually started talking about how French is so popular... 2nd language blah blah blah and she told me that French was being taken over by German and Spanish, especially in the business world. I was rather surprised.
Take of that what you will. |

In certain academic areas in Japan, such as law and medicine, German is a very common choice of second languages. Maybe even more common than English. But among the general public, my guess (and it's only a guess) is that French is probably more popular among those who study as a "hobby." |

France is to Europe what Korea is to Asia, in other words a dung hole...having lived in France for 2 years and several in German speaking countries...I cannot see logically how French would eclipse German as far as demand is concerned.... |

Deicide,
You are welcome to your own opinions but in that spirit, let me say that not only do I disagree with your comment, I also find it offensive. I think it would be more helpful in your search for information if you stick to your original thread question rather than passing judgment on other countries. Incidentally, French is widely spoken in more than just France. |

Isn't there a website called francesucks.com? I wonder why?
I shouldn't talk...there's probably a similar one for Germany. |
