I see my talent for killing a topic stone dead has begun to rear it's ugly head again; D20/RPG/WoD/Dnd, Singapore (International) School (all locations, etc. Does anyone have any topics they are sick of? One reply from me should end the matter quickly, or so it would seem...

Perhaps it's frustration at the appallingly low level of English... Otherwise, you'll just have to "wornder" some more, I suppose.

Well, I could suggest another conversation killer, and that is 'new words'.
My new word of the day (from bitter experience) is an "Indonesian loan".
This is where a mother is awaiting a life-prolonging operation, the rent is due, a business is about to close down, the LPG is habis etc etc, and one is asked to make a small loan of a hundred dollars or more.
This could no doubt lead to a not-so-new word such as 'come in sucker'.
Having made such a loan, the newcomer expects to get it back sometime soon.
The old hand knows that it's a low interest, never-to-be repaid loan. |

Alternatively, a cameraman and presenter could visit the kampung and exploit the mother's poverty for our viewing pleasure. They could give her 1.000.000rp which she will NOT use to pay her bills; she will use her new found wealth to buy a new handphone. |

Trying to imitate American poor people, no doubt. |

This did happen on one episode of whatever show it was... The TV crew went into the kampung where this family was about to be evicted from their shack, they didn't have a pot to plss in or a window to throw it out of - they gave her over a million, she went to the store and bought some earrings and necklace!!! I imagine the husband was gutted thinking of all the 'dances' he could've bought at the local dangdut kennel. |
