Hey guys, I was wondeirng, I've heard that Shane will not act as a Guarantor for teachers wishing to find private apartemnts, is this true? If so, how have you (who worked for shane and got a private apartment) manage to find somewhere or get a guarantor?
Thanks

That was certainly true five years ago.

Some companies will act as guarantors for you. The adverts in Metropolis usually include a few. Of course, they don't do it for free.

I was lucky in that one of my adult students agreed to guarantee my apartment, then my other half's family took the burden.

The real estate agency found a guarantee company for me, and I had to pay about 20,000 Yen for the guarantor. I'm not sure how this works though, or what you ask for because a student I knew from my old job is an agent and helped me get the apartment.

Personally I'd rather pay a small fee than have anything of mine tied to the company I work for. But, that's me.

So, there are companies that will act as a guarantor? How do I find them?

www.google.com

That site will do wonders for you.

Gaijinpot also has real estate ads, that will work with foreigners.
