Hi guys,

I learnt from this discussion forum that one has to get an exit visa when leaving some ME countries.

Does it apply in Qatar too?

Any response will be highly appreciated.

Any response? Smile

You need an exit permit if you are on a work visa. Your sponsor can download and print one from a MOI web site; it's no big deal.

Many thanks Dundat.

What i really wanted to inquire about is if the situation is like KSA in which an employer keeps the teacher's passport and give him/her an 'iqama' and if things go awry, the 'hapless' teacher might not be able make the dash without the employer's consent.

I don't want to encounter that kind of scenario thats why i'm kinda inquisitive.

Need more inputs for elucidation purposes.

Keep it rolling guys!

No, that's not the way it's usually done, but it is possible. My employer will, upon request, issue an exit permit with a far-off expiration date, making it possible for me to leave and return whenever I please, and I keep my passport in my possession at all times. There are employers who hold their employees' passports, but that is not the norm for teachers.
