I did a search on this subject in the Forums, guess I didn't get the key words right because I couldn't find much. What's the best time to look for work in Taipei? I read one post that said September, but no other posts on the subject. How's my timing if I arrive Monday September 4? Thanks so much!

September is the best time to start, but do find at least five promising leads online NOW so your options are open when you arrive.

Right now is the best time because there are lot of jobs available. However it is likely to be the same a week or two from now. There are less jobs at other times but that doesn't mean finding one is more difficult at any other time but that there are less choices of employment and available schools about. The only bad time to come is right before Chinese New Year but that has more to do with cash resources than possible employment prospects.

You are both wrong. But only because you've chosen "best" as the adjective of "time". Coming now will mean you lose almost 3,000USD in taxes. Arriving just after CNY is the "best time". Now is okay, as the language businesses are in a hiring push. But they are always hiring. Don't screw yourself out of 20% of your earnings. Arrive and start "officially" working before 6/31.

Unfortunately, that would mean waiting a year to come. Good info though. Thanks.

Actually, it would mean waiting 4-5 months. Good thing they don't need Math teachers here. Wink
